Achieve more from 2024 with this year’s Astrology

The astrology of 2024 begins with a bang. Themes from last year continue, yet will deepen and intensify. If 2023 was a time of transition, with new energy sweeping the horoscope, 2024 takes it to the next level.

The meaning of some of this year’s astrology was explored in earlier posts – The Astrology of 2023’ and ‘Jupiter conjunct Uranus’.

Our latest blog adds new thoughts on these and their relevance to the new year.

And we reveal and delve into new astrology patterns now arising.

In a nutshell, to achieve more in 2024 we will need to navigate irresistible forces for change.

Pluto into Aquarius, again.

In an astonishing display of synchronicity, the Sun conjuncts Pluto on 21st January in the exact moment they jointly enter the zodiac sign of Aquarius.

This is a dynamic astrological statement that, ‘new’ age or not, Aquarius energy is now. Aquarian themes like human rights, social change, new ideas, and technological developments, will be transformed and transformative in the years to come.

Aquarian myths.

A powerful myth associated with Aquarius is that of the ancient Greek Titan Prometheus, who defied the gods and gave fire to humans so they could grow civilisation. This story symbolises the human capacity to make progress and to shape our own destiny. Independent of the gods’ might. Of course, there is a price to pay, as poor Prometheus discovers.

Another Aquarian symbol is that of the Water-Bearer. The Water-Bearer shows how the mystical waters of Pisces, the oceanic oneness of connection with all that is, is something we each carry within and can use consciously.

These ancient stories and symbols suggest something of the discoveries and dilemmas that await the human collective in the Aquarian New Age.

What happened the last time Pluto was in Aquarius?

As the Sun and Pluto enter Aquarius on January 21st, they announce titanic changes for areas of life associated with this sign. The rise of ‘people’ power may be one example. Or the destruction and rebirth of democracies.

These transformations will be profound, slow, and irrevocable, for Pluto remains in Aquarius for 20 years.

What lessons might we learn from when Pluto was last in Aquarius between 1778 and 1798? Chiefly, that revolutionary changes and developments happening then were, in nature, both light and dark.

Here are several examples. The democratic ideals of the French Revolution were accompanied by a Reign of Terror. The new nation created by the American War of Independence utilised violence and military conflict. And the new British colony that became Australia, was forcefully stolen from indigenous peoples with the lie of terra nullius.

Pluto themes always concern power—either the right use of power or the misuse of power. Being naïve around this is less than helpful.

The new Pluto in Aquarius era.

What will be the arena for the new Pluto in Aquarius era?

Contemporary Aquarian concerns, like political organisations, change activism, scientific discoveries, New Age ideologies, the internet and social media, and technologies like AI and robotics, will likely be at the forefront of some necessary social evolution and the forum in which power issues come to light.

One final visit to Pluto in Capricorn.

Pluto briefly returns to Capricorn for three months, from September to November. This may be the last hurrah for despots and corporates who have bullied their way up the ladder of profit and power during the Pluto in Capricorn era. They will not surrender easily.

It is also another opportunity to transform our relationship to status and authority, and for us each to confront ‘the boss’ within.

Uranus is let off the leash to fly high with Jupiter.

At the same time as Pluto shifts massive energy into Aquarius in late January, Uranus, the modern ruler of Aquarius, goes forward in its journey around the zodiac. This shift liberates vital energy for creating change, freedom, and new things.

As an astrologer, it is impossible to miss the message of these repeating themes: how forces for change are becoming irresistible.

Lying ahead for Uranus is one of astrology’s most blessed transits, the exact conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus in April 2024. I like to think of this union, which happens every 13 years, as offering a little bit of magic, an abracadabra moment, likely to trigger good fortune and new opportunities.

Be watchful for an open door that may appear in your life. For those who love astrology readings, make sure to find out how this transit impacts your chart.

Healer, heal thyself.

Greek myths tell tales of an incurably wounded centaur called Chiron. Chiron was revered in the ancient world for his wisdom, accomplishments, and faithful mentoring of young heroes. His story is associated with a minor planet in astrology.

Transits of Chiron bring opportunities for self-discovery and personal healing through encounters with our wounds. Sometimes, this means health issues, yet more often, it means the self-limiting psychological scars that we carry.

Chiron in Aries.

Several astrological events trigger Chiron’s transit through Aries in 2024. The eclipses, for example.

Chiron in Aries seeks healing of your inner warrior. The part of you able to fight your corner. The part who can act, take the initiative, and ensure your needs are met appropriately. This can be challenging for many.

Yet for others to benefit from our care, we must first learn a lesson about taking care of ourselves. Indeed, we risk projecting our needs onto others if we fail to do so.

Undoubtedly, there is much benefit to be had this year from recognising old pain and seeking further healing. But it’s always a challenging task.

This is the wisdom of Chiron in Aries, and we have all of 2024 to chip away at it.

We are looking back to the Great Chronocrator.

On December 21st, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn met at the beginning of Aquarius to begin a new 20-year cycle. This momentous occasion is known as the Great Chronocator. Look back and examine how you laid the foundation for some new beginning in your life in the following weeks and months.

In another remarkable synchronicity, the Great Chronocrator happened in the same degree of the zodiac as the current Pluto/Sun conjunction.

Pluto will want to empower what was first imagined three years ago by forcing an intense confrontation with something you are less than conscious of. In 2024, it may come to light.

Jupiter squares Saturn.

As if in agreement that a test must be confronted, the Jupiter/Saturn cycle has itself reached a crisis point. From mid-2024, Jupiter and Saturn will form a challenging 90-degree angle to each other as Jupiter travels through Gemini and Saturn through Pisces. The tension of this clash is likely to be most acute when exact in August and December.

Saturn will begin to activate limits, or checks and balances, to something new about you or your life that started at the time of the Great Chronocrator. As Saturn is now in Pisces, this may present as a crisis of faith. We might face a hurdle, or clipped wings, or fail initial hopes and ideals.

Adjusting to this is no light matter, yet such limitations will help us in the long run to revise the plan, to choose what is truly worthy, and to persist with it. As always with Saturn, these are the tests that life throws our way when it’s time to get real, face facts, and meet life with maturity. Hopefully, Jupiter in Gemini can help us meet these challenges with a lighter mindset, an optimistic outlook, and a delightful curiosity for learning that will help us make necessary adjustments.

Saturn conjunct Neptune

Soulful Neptune is uncomfortable with Saturn’s grim facts of life. Yet these planets come closer together in 2024 as they continue their transit through Pisces. The stage is set for a dramatic 3rd act when they finally conjoin in 2025. The Saturn/Neptune era is coming, and will be explored in an upcoming post.

How to achieve more in 2024?

The intensification of forces for change, active attention for old wounds, and goals trimmed by practical restrictions are key themes to navigate this year.

Achieving more in 2024 will require steering a course through the challenges and benefits the year will offer.

And astrology can help you find your way.
